You slept through your alarm for work and you’re panicked. You realize as you head out the door that you forgot to wash your face. No time for a shower, not in this economy! The bus that takes you to your subway stop arrives, and it’s partially full - certainly not with anyone else that slept through their wake-up call. The thirty minute journey to work is an anxious one. You’re convinced you’re going to be fired as soon as you get in to your office.

It doesn’t happen. Your boss is late as well. You log on, breathe a sigh of relief and consider your options for a quick breakfast. After all, who knows when you made it to your desk? Your boss certainly doesn’t, that’s for sure! You walk towards the elevators, nodding at some colleagues you vaguely recognise. You put your headphones and listen to Special Delivery’s new EP, Maximalism, and you know that everything’s going to be just fine.

Special Delivery is the sum of what’s come before. It’s an attempt to bring together strands of previous bands, desires and experiences. It’s pessimism of the lyrics, but an optimism of the instrumentation.

Dry guitars, shifting tempos, sax skronk, percussive flourishes and discordant bass are utilized with the goal of making you want to dance.
