about

Welcome, listener!

You’re visiting a small town somewhere in central Europe for a few days. It’s a break; a holiday of sorts. The town is provincial, and it’s based around a small university that used to be held in higher esteem nationally, but it’s since been usurped by other establishments. You wonder what it must have been like here when the university was founded. It was probably a little different compared to when you visited! The town’s museum and art gallery are not as exciting as you hoped they would be. The architecture style reminds you of those six-part crime dramas you used to watch when you were a little younger, but you’re not in Gothenburg, Tampere or Aalborg. You’re somewhere else. It's not because those towns are bad, but it's because those places are expensive.

On the final day, you recall a suggestion from a close friend in the city you call home. They’d been to the town in central Europe the year before. You work your way through the old town; endless enclaves and minuscule cafes haunt your peripheral vision. But you find it. You find the the record store that your buddy had breathlessly recommended.

The selection is more to your friend’s taste, not to yours. But as you swirl around to leave the shop, something catches your eye. It’s a photo of a dome of some kind. You don’t know what the sphere is. There’s snow on the ground. The air seems fresh. It looks inviting. It’s blue. You pick it up, and this is what you hear. Who is Special Delivery? This is Special Delivery. It's what you've always wanted.

about

Special Delivery Toronto, Ontario

Special Delivery is the sum of what’s come before. It’s an attempt to bring together strands of previous bands, desires and experiences. It’s pessimism of the lyrics, but an optimism of the instrumentation.

Dry guitars, shifting tempos, sax skronk, percussive flourishes and discordant bass are utilized with the goal of making you want to dance.
